October 2010 Northwatch Missive
Greetings unto those who read these words now that autumn is upon us,
Primus. The theme for this issue was supposed to be “Harvest: Customs surrounding the harvest/things to do with the bounties of the harvest,” but there seemed to be little interest in this theme. Thanks to Mistress Prisilka for sending me an article that was published twenty years ago in Caer Anterth Mawr’s Song of the Tower. While not quite on the theme, it is close and a very interesting read. To fill out the issue I have started a series that Dame Alys Katherine put together on the Corpora when she was Society Chatelaine. This series will continue as there is room for it. Hopefully November’s theme will draw more interest (and if I know our bards it should.) The theme will be: “Thankful to be in Northshield: Tales told in stories, music and songs.”
Secundus. The Society Chronicler has created a new uniformity policy that we will begin following in January. “Each issue with a January cover date and alternating months thereafter, Kingdom newsletters will publish the membership form. Each issue with a February cover date and alternating months thereafter, Kingdom newsletters will publish the IKD and nominees, messages from the BoD, and other items as directed by the Board of Directors or their designee. There may also be occasional messages from the BoD or corporate level which will need immediate inclusion in the next possible issue of the newsletter or monthly repetition for a span of time. (An example of this is the current notice to the populace requesting they complete the survey.) These will also be included as requested.”
Quod denique. Although life can be unpredictable, I am currently planning on going to Silfren Mere for Crown Tournament and Caer Anterth Mawr for their youth event this month and the Early Period Symposium in Jararvellir in November.
I remain, in service to the Northshield, our Society, and most of all, to the
