July Missive

Greetings to all,

As we start the summer and what should be our season of camping and camaraderie, know that we are all missing the campfires and fellowship. I am not really a camping person, and I am even missing set-up and tear down of camp, just because it would be a signal that life has started to return to something like normal. However, I am constantly reminded that our community is more than events and things; it is the people who share a common interest and joy in being together and in recreating history in a myriad of ways. I value our community more than words can express and I am so grateful to have you as my friends. The best part of taking on this role are the new friends I have made.

In this time of increased purchasing online, I want to make sure everyone is aware that there is a free way to support our organization when using Amazon. Amazon has a program called AmazonSmile that donates a percentage of each purchase to an organization you designate. Here is how to set it up. Go to smile.amazon.com. Sign into your account and a pop-up page will appear. On the right side of the page, at the bottom is a search window. Type in “Society for Creative Anachronism” and click the search button. Click on the top one and you are done. Your donations will be automatic for any purchase within the Amazon Smile program (which is most merchandise). Amazon donates 0.5% of each purchase to the non-profit organizations of your choice and the Society for Creative Anachronism is one of those organizations. These donations will be deposited quarterly from the AmazonSmile Foundation into a separate SCA corporate account dedicated for these donations.
