The Kingdom of Northshield began as a Crown Principality in A.S. 27 (1992) , was raised to full principality status in January, A.S. 30 (1995), and became the eighteenth kingdom of the Society for Creative Anachronism in A.S. 39 (2004).
The shire was established in the early 1990's and includes the Sioux Falls metro area and portions of SW Minnesota.
