Youth Boffer Combat
Both fighters and parents must read and understand. If you have questions PLEASE ask any Youth Marshal or Myself.
What are the requirements need to become a youth marshal in training?
You must be a paid member of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc.
To become a warranted BCM you must complete the boffer combat marshal training program. This program is identical to the armored or rapier marshal training program with the following additions:
Those that are not authorized armored or rapier combatants must spend at least one day observing armored or rapier combat at an event and have a warranted marshal sign off on this. This marshal must answer any questions about combat to the boffer marshal in training.
The special deputy for youth combat may request additional references as desired.
Do I have to be a heavy marshal before I can become a youth marshal?
No, Anyone can work at becoming a youth marshal, it does help if you are already a heavy or fencing marshal but it is not necessary. See requirements
What are the age groups for the kids?
Children's Boffer Division (Ages 6-9)
Youth Boffer Division (Ages 10-13)
Teen Boffer Division (Ages 14-17)
Youth Armored Division (Ages 16-17)-Youth are not required to participate in rattan fighting at this age, and may continue with boffer. For rules, armor, and weapons see adult heavy combat sections.
