October Missive

Greetings from Iohannes!

The College of Heralds has something new. I am happy to announce that we have warranted our first Silent Herald, Lady Astrid Olledottir. A Silent Herald performs sign language during court for those Nobles and Gentles who may be hearing impaired. This is the culmination of a lot of work and discussion over the past several years and I am excited to be able to offer this addition. There are several other members of the populace working on becoming Silent Heralds and it is hoped this program will continue to expand. Should you be interested in becoming a Silent Herald, please contact Polaris Herald at herald@northshield.org. I also want to thank all those heralds who have been volunteering to serve as court heralds. This is an important skill we have been working on expanding and we are always looking for new heralds to assist with this important role.

Is your name and device registered? Do you need a name, device, or badge? There are consultation tables scheduled at upcoming events where the heralds can assist you. Heralds are also welcome to sit at the table and learn how to assist with this process. Contact Mistress Mira at keythong@nothshield.org for more information.

Lastly, I am still taking applications for the office of Blawhorn Herald. This officer is responsible for vocal heraldry during tournaments, particularly Spring and Fall Crown Tournaments along with other tournaments by request. Applicants should be familiar with how tournaments function and have a strong voice. Applications may be submitted to Polaris Herald at herald@northshield.org.

In Service.
Iohannes
