Michaelmas, or the Feast of Michael and All Angels, is celebrated on the 29th of September every year. As it falls near the equinox, the day is associated with the beginning of autumn and the shortening of days; in England, it is one of the “quarter days”. We are moving the day of celebration to the weekend, October 3rd.
It used to be said that harvest had to be completed by Michaelmas, almost like the marking of the end of the productive season and the beginning of the new cycle of farming. We are keeping with the harvest theme for our event and will be having activities that many would see at a community festival: dancing, singing, gaming and eating. We are including a walking archery course so bring your bows!

The site is at the Seneschal's home, which is situated on ~ 10 acres of land) and we will have her back yard available for cooking. At the end of the event we will enjoy a large meal of items that have been cooked during the day, or dishes that people have prepared ahead of time and brought to share. A goat, chickens and goose will be slaughtered prior to the event and if you would like access to portions of either animal for your dish, contact the event steward.
