I was born in Theodosia of Chersonesos around 1170 to devout Christian parents.  My mother is of Rus decent and her parents went into exile in 1130 with one of the decedents of Vseslav the Seer.  My father, a Greek merchant, moved the family to Adrianople when I was fifteen and I have joined him in his trade.
