Name derives from pre-Anglicized Ireland. Anglicized Áine becomes (and pronounces as) Anya (Anne). I have not yet figured out a good last name. Suffice to say that once I do, I'll be sending it out to make it official, and changing this description a little.
Áine is quite shut-in. She hasn't really been anywhere outside her village until recently, when her northern Gaelic home was invaded by raiders. Without any possessions, she didn't have anywhere else to go, but due south towards warmer climates. Since all her family had been dead before the raid, and her home village effectively wiped from history, she chooses to remain more anonymous than her culture is comfortable with, rarely, if ever, speaking of her lineage; namely her father, whom was quite notorious for being a raider himself.
She tries to make her way with illumination and scribing. She'll sing if she has to, but never considered her voice great enough to make a living off of. She has also learned how to sew and cook raw meat and vegetables to survive, preferring to kill at a distance than in close quarters.
She loves the hares of the countryside more than any other creature, and thus has attempted to make her heraldry reflect that, since her father didn't have one of his own to pass down to her. |
