Stefano dai Liuti di Taormina, you may have heard of me ;)
Middle Renaissance period (early to mid 1500s) multi-instrumentalist specializing in the lute as a primary means of musical interpretation.
Taormina, from where Stefano hails, is an ancient city dating back to ancient Greece but has seen ownership by Rome, Italy and Sicily over time. Situated as a coastal city, it holds an ancient theatre, Teatro antico di Taormina, standing since the 3rd century and home to many many performances over time. Taormina is a home to the performing arts and carries the tradition of Sicilian musicians with it.
Stefano plays and performs a variety of musical interpretations on his lute and is not unknown to improvise a little bit here and there where it feels tasteful and meaningful.
