Thank you to all the local exchequers, who have really stepped up to meet the new reporting requirements in the Society Financial Policy. I really appreciate the work everyone has put into their jobs, and I am working to make the overall job of being an exchequer easier.
Towards that end, I would like to introduce some new deputies—the CERNs (Communication, Education and Review Ninjas)—who have stepped up to assist me in putting together training materials, updating our policies, disseminating information as Society and Kingdom policies change, and completing the review of books for each group. I am also looking for more people to become CERNs, as the hope is that we will have deputies across the kingdom, so that there are more people available locally to help the branch exchequers, and to make the review process easier to complete in the future. If anyone is interested in becoming a CERN, please contact me.
I will be holding a class at SUN on November 7th. I will briefly go over what reports are required and their deadlines, and then open the floor for discussion. The intent is to help local exchequers and anyone interested in being an exchequer better understand the role.
Once again, I’d like to remind everyone that you may now send in electronic copies of most reports (the Domesday being the exception), rather than mailing hard-copies. You must still have a signed hard copy in your own files, but you may provide a PDF (such as a scan of the signed report) to the Kingdom Exchequer, Regional Exchequer, and your seneschal. I still recommend sending an initial copy of the excel quarterly and Domesday reports, because that format is easier for the Regionals and myself to look over and correct if needed.
Lastly, I am still looking for a successor, and though I have extended my term, I cannot continue as Kingdom Exchequer past October 2016. I am going to keep the application period open until December 15th, 2015, and hopefully the Stallari will be able to make a decision by early to mid-January, so that I can begin training my successor. The January-March time-frame is very busy for exchequer reports (Domesdays and consolidated reports at the Kingdom level), and is a good time to learn about what is involved in being Kingdom Exchequer.
