Gooooooooooood Morning Northshield!!!
I have made cards that are being sent to all the groups Knights Marshals. On them are the 4 basic strategies for field battles. If anyone else would like a set of these cards, please let me know and I’ll make sure they get to you. It’s very important that you learn and drill these at your local and regional practices. They will become part of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in the Northshield Army. Get familiar with the term SOP – you will hear / see it a lot! I’m also working on SOP’s for Res. Battles.
Melee fighting is a strenuous physical full contact sport. It requires more physical conditioning than merely lugging your armor from the closet to the car and back. Things you need to work on is your strength, your stamina and your heat tolerance. Weight training and heavy pell work will improve strength, and jogging in full armor and fighting on hot days will improve your heat tolerance and stamina.
When doing any type of physical training, use your head. Start slow, drink lots of water and don’t continue doing anything you consider detrimental.
Scaling down motion will help with your stamina. Practice all your fighting moves until they are smooth and quick.
Diet has an effect on your ability to perform on the field. Meals that are heavy in fat take a long time to digest. Meals heavy in sugar burn up quickly and leave you with no energy. Complex carbohydrates are a much better choice. Remember you’ll need lots of fluids in your tissues before you fight… Drink LOTS of water before, during and after fighting. Alcohol and caffeine will dehydrate you and reduce your heat tolerance.
Stay tuned to this Griffin station for further updates!
Happy hunting… Keep swinging a stick … Keep healthy – we need each and every one of you – you all are important!
