The Future of Northshield The Future of Northshield

Missive

The time has come for me to retire from the job of Compass Herald. Gevehard, Polaris Herald, and I are seeking applications from anyone who wants to take the job of Compass Herald.

So...what does this mean?

Compass Herald is the internal submissions herald of Northshield. Northshield has two submissions heralds. One is the person who you send name and armory submissions to, who takes your paperwork and puts the information on a webpage and sends the paperwork on to the other submissions herald. It’s a fairly easy paperwork job. Its the job of Compass Herald.

So what is needed? Some interest in heraldry is needed. Experience is not needed. I am willing to train my successor and act as a resource for my successor as time passes. Internet access and access to a scanner are needed. The information from the forms goes onto a webpage, and the pictures from the forms is scanned in and added to that page. NO CODING EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED. Maol Mhichil, who created the webpage, set it up as an easy system that anyone can use.I keep stressing that this job is easy. It is. It takes a couple hours per month, and it requires an interest in heraldry. Thats it.

If you are interested in applying, send a letter of interest to myself, copied to Gevehard. Our contact information is in the back of the Northwatch or on the Northshield webpage. We both prefer email for this letter of interest, and our email addresses are compass@northshield.org and herald@northshield.org.

If you have any questions, please contact me. We’ll be taking applications through April 1, 2006.
