Rosa de la Mere Rosa de la Mere

May 2011 Northwatch Missive

I wish fair spring winds to those who read
these words-

I sit to write these words after having my
world changed quite drastically within the
few days most recently passed. As the poet
Robert Burns said about 500 years after my
death, “The best laid schemes o’ mice an’
men gang aft a-gley,” or as the writer Kurt
Vonnegut almost 200 years after that put it,
“So it goes.”

Primus. Looks like this Kingdom will be
stuck with me for a while longer in this position.
Due to many concerns, THL Berengaria
has found that she cannot, at this time, take
on the job of Kingdom Chronicler. I am
now looking for a successor again. If anyone
is interested in applying, or knows someone
who might be interested, please let me know.
Feel free to ask questions. The job can be split
in different ways to make it less of a burden
on one person. I am willing to stay on as
Northwatch Editor and Emergency Deputy
for a while and will do all I can to help a suc
cessor. I am not in that much of a hurry since
there are so many changes happening within
the world of Kingdom newsletters so feel free
to find me at an event or email me and ask
questions. The job description is listed on the
Kingdom’s website but it can be modified as
needed.

Secundus. You will note the new size and
format for this issue. We are experimenting
in ways to save money now that our
stipend from the corporation has been cut.
This might be temporary or not. Feel free
to send feedback on this to northwatch@
northshield.org.
Tertius. We will still be losing money but
we do have a bit of a cushion in our coffers
based on some serious fundraising efforts a
few years back. If your group is interested
in doing a fundraiser for the Northwatch,
feel free. We also still offer opportunities for
sponsorship. You, your group, household or
guild can sponsor a whole issue for $200 or
even just a page for $10. You can find this
information at http://northshield.org/Posts/
Display.aspx?ID=2477

Quartus. Remember that we have a new
Historian/Archivist, Geirfold halvblindi
Kolbeinson. He presented a history that he
has been working on to Their Royal Majesties
on the day of their Coronation and will continue
to research and add to it as well as
work on other projects. Please volunteer your
stories or information to him as you can. Just
ask him what he would find useful by emailing
him at archivist@northshield.org.

Quod denique. It is hard for me to consider
where my travels in May will take me
since as I write these words I look forward to
my travels in April (from the old lands of the
Magyar to Schattentor.) I have not missed
a Crown Tournament yet since Northshield
became a Kingdom so I really cannot see that
I will not journey to Korsväg for that grand
contest. I will leave the rest of the month to
the fates and leave you now.

I remain, in service to the Northshield, our
Society, and most of all, to the populace~~
