Greetings unto the populace!
As we move towards a more open time ahead, we are still bound by the guidelines set by the Board of Directors (BoD). One of those, as of the date I write this, is that all events after June 1 must accept only preregistrations. As always, you can write a check and send it in, but we are finally able to use PayPal to accept online payments. The new policy, approved at the April 18, 2021, BoD meeting, follows the plan created by Society, and requires that every person wishing to use PayPal for registration payments send a request to my PayPal Deputy, who creates an invoice from PayPal to that person. Funds paid into the Kingdom PayPal account, less any fees collected by PayPal, are transferred to a bank account held by the Kingdom, and the Kingdom Exchequer forwards those funds to the group hosting the event.
The process may seem a bit clunky, but as I said, it was designed by Society to ensure financial security, and we are bound by that process. My thanks to Duchess Mary of Carrigart who, as Event Steward for the upcoming Crown Tournament, worked with my PayPal Deputy, Marian Elizabeth Wollenschlager, to create a Google form and worksheet to automate a bit of the process. I’m sure going forward we will find ways to make it work more efficiently.
Speaking of my PayPal Deputy, Marian’s term of service in her office is up in July, and she would like to step down.
