Greetings unto the good gentles of Kingdom of Northshield!

My name is John Bartholomew of Flanders (often called Jack), and I have the honor of serving as the first Deputy Earl Marshal for Thrown Weapons in the Kingdom of Northshield. Like archery, Thrown Weapons is open to all gentles. You do not need a membership or authorization to play in Thrown Weapons - just bring yourself and some knives, axes, or spears. if you don't have your own weapons (yet), odds are there will be loaner equipment for you to try. Thrown Weapons is a rapidly growing activity in Northshield, and we hope each of you gets a chance to try out this fun activity as we go along!

I am pleased to announce my Regional Deputies for Thrown Weapons: Lord WaShe of Windhaven will be the Deputy for TW in Eastern Northshield; Lord Baalin Wolf will serve this role in Central Northshield; and Lord Lokeild Kvendulf will be Regional Deputy for TW in Western Northshield. These gentles will be handling reporting for marshals and MITs in their regions, as well as helping promote TW as they go along. A number of groups have talked about having Thrown Weapons practices - please note that to have an official practice (one listed in an SCA publication like a group newsletter), you must have a warranted marshal present. If your group does not have a warranted TW marshal but would like to get one, please contact me and/or my Regional Deputies, and we will see what we can do.

With our new Kingdom we have a number of new laws, procedures and policies in place, and Thrown Weapons is no exception. I will be reviewing some of these in future missives; if you have questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me.
