Greetings unto the populace,
As I mentioned back in July, my time as Kingdom Exchequer is rapidly coming to a close. My warrant ends at 12th Night in January. As such, I need to identify a person to step up as my successor. Third quarter reporting is due at the end of October, so I’d like to be able to review those reports with them, to get them ready for year-end reporting.
What skills and experience does the Kingdom Exchequer require? While they don’t necessarily have to have been an Exchequer, they need to understand how the Quarterly Reporting spreadsheet from Society works, and time serving as a local Exchequer means they will have previous experience with it. As Kingdom Exchequer, you may be asked to help local Exchequers solve problems with their reports, so understanding how the spreadsheet functions will be very helpful.
Starting in 2020, the Kingdoms were required to use QuickBooks for financial record keeping and reporting. If my successor isn’t familiar with using QuickBooks, they’ll need to get up to speed fairly quickly. I had no experience with it when I took the office, and I had to set up our file structure and learn to keep records with it. It has not been a steep learning curve, and Society has a Deputy with a lot of training who is always willing to help solve problems.
The Kingdom Exchequer is responsible for paying our bills and reimbursing expenses. They need to be familiar with the Kingdom Laws and Financial Policies that govern when and how those payments are made. They also serve as a member of the Stallari Council, prepare a budget for the upcoming year, and keep the Council updated on how we’re doing on following that budget.
